When I was going to college I would always get so stressed (and excited) about classes, friends, homework and if I was going to be late to all my classes the first week. All that stress would cause my skin to break out and I hated it! Who wants to have blemished skin the very first week of classes?
I found 3 products that really helped keep my skin in check.
I used Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub & Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser a week before and the week of my first week of school to help with any active breakouts, and to prevent further breakouts. It gave my skin the extra deep clean when it needed it.

Both Neutrogena® products use Salicylic Acid and MicroClear® Technology to help treat and prevent breakouts, even blackheads, which I tend to get more easily since I have oily skin. I like that it really cleans out my pours without feeling too drying on my skin as well. I have always had super oily skin so I have always needed a little extra help with my skin, especially in moments of high stress. I am more prone to blemishes. I have tried a million things and these acne washes have really help me keep my skin under control.

The third product that I swear by, is the Clean & Clear® MORNING BURST® Facial Cleanser. I used this all through college and I still love their products! When I first went to college it was a bit of an adjustment waking up super early in the morning to get ready for class. I have never been a morning person, so I needed something to help wake me up in the morning. The Clean & Clear® MORNING BURST® Facial Cleanser did just that! I loved how it gave my face a tingly refreshed feeling as I washed with it in the morning. The BURSTING BEADS® left my face feeling awake and ready for the day, all while smelling like citrus.
I purchased all these products at my local Target. It is usually always by the other facial moisturizers, and facial cleansers. Mine was on aisle A6.You can also download the Cartwheel app and save on Clean & Clear® and Neutrogena® products! It is a great way to save on lots of products at Target! So make sure to give it a good place before you head to Target! You can save 20% on Neutrogena® cosmetics every weekend in August, Thursday-Sunday, on Cartwheel.
Along with all the stress I was super excited to meet new people and get all new college essentials. I wanted to share my packing list as well as my college skin care routine to help give you ideas on how to not let the stress get to your face!
Here are a few tips & tricks in keeping your skin clear and fresh, as well as my college skincare routine.
MORNING:
Every morning I would shower and wash my face with the Clean & Clear® MORNING BURST® Facial Cleanser. It wakes me up and gets my skin ready for the day! Next, I would use a toner on my face as well. It helps reduce redness, irritation and eliminate oil. After toning I would moisturize lightly before I put any makeup on.
You can also buy one Clean & Clear® product, get one 25% off on the Cartwheel app!
NIGHT:
At night I would remove all my makeup, which is very important in keeping your skin clear. You want to wash off the day and any impurities that might be on your skin. I would then wash my face with one of two things. Either the Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub or the Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. The week before and the first week of school I would definitely use the Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub. I can feel it really getting deep into my pours and I feel like it packs an extra punch when my skin is under stress or needs a little extra care.
If I am just washing my face at night regularly I would use the Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser. It still helps prevent breakouts and eliminates blackheads. I would then tone my face again. It has really helped “perfect” my skin after I cleanse it. I don’t usually moisturize at night because I don’t want to wake up with any extra oil on my face the next morning. Then I’d take out my contacts and try to go to bed!
Tips & Tricks to keeping your skin clear & fresh:
+ Wash your face morning & night
+ Try to not stress out, I know it is hard the first week of school especially
+ Wash with the Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub when you need a little extra something on your skin
+ Try not to touch your face during the day. The oils from your fingers can cause unwanted breakouts
+ Remove your makeup at night, and make sure you are washing your pillow case at least once a week
+ Use a setting spray after you apply your makeup. It will keep your face filling fresh and help your makeup stay in place since you’ll most likely be on campus all day.
+ Use a face mask once a week to help keep your face fresh
+ Don’t wear as much makeup the first week of college. If your skin is suffering from stress you don’t want to add a bunch of caked on makeup to stress it out even more
Here are a few of my college packing essentials and a few tips on how to prepare for college below!
College Essentials Packing List:
+ Notebooks, I had one notebook for each class and was religious about taking notes.
+ Pens/pencils
+ New bedspread! I lived in an apartment off campus and loved picking out a cute cheap bedspread every year.
+ New clothes for school, back to school shopping was one of my favorite things. I loved picking out some new pieces to add to my wardrobe to help me feel really confident the first week back.
+ Desk. My room didn’t come with a desk, but I loved supplying my own and really making it a calming place to studying.
+ Cute backpack. Of course I am all about the cute things. I needed something cute, but also comfortable to wear since I was carrying my laptop most of the time.
+ Folders. I kept a folder for each class as well, to help organize my syllabus as well as papers I would get in class.
+ Binders. I didn’t carrying too many binders around, but I did keep a few with page separators if it was a class that required a lot of notes, or in depth work.
+ Flashcards. I loved my flashcards when I studied for midterms and finals.
+ Planner. I love using planners! I still use one and it’s what I live by. I would carry my planner everywhere with me and used it for everything. It would remind me of upcoming assignments, tasks and homework I needed to complete and it really kept my life organized.
